Sweet Chilli Turkey Burgers

Sweet Chilli Turkey Burgers

Turkey mince has got to be my favourite alternative to chicken or beef mince. Its succulent, juicy, easy to work with, low in saturated fats and is a meat that perhaps you don’t eat on a regular basis. These sweet chilli turkey patties are salty and sweet, with a bit of spice to add a little kick. In a wholegrain or low glycemic index bun they make the perfect meal! And what about the leftovers you may ask? Well, that’s if you have any! if you do, they are great sliced into a salad for lunch or on the side of your breakfast avocado on toast for a source of protein. These patties are tasty for the whole family and they are a crowd pleaser - great for summer backyard barbeques.

Ingredients:

Patties

  • 1kg extra lean turkey mince

  • 2 tbsp kewpie mayonnaise

  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed

  • 1 red onion, finely diced

  • 1 green chilli, finely diced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely diced

  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander, finely diced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes

  • 1/2 cup stale bread crumbs

The rest

  • Buns, cos lettuce, avocado, pineapple slices, sliced tomato, sliced cucumber, sliced cheese, kewpie mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the patties.

  2. Make 14 evenly sized patties from the mince mixture. Cook these in a fry pan with EVOO on a medium heat or alternatively on the barbeque. Cook for 3 - 5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through.

  3. Once the patties are cooked assemble your burgers with whatever other ingredients you like - I have suggested some of my personal favourites above. Enjoy your burgers!
